Adventure Movies Of The 90'S! Your Thanksgiving free movie list is merely two movies long, but what movies! Unlike Halloween (that I offered that you simply list of 100 free scary movies here), Thanksgiving uses a different twist. Big oil company propaganda which has a heart! Just the free movie we'd like for Thanksgiving! This 78-minute semi-documentary from 1948 is one in the most lyrical American films available. In 1994, The Louisiana Story was selected for preservation within the United States National Film Registry through the Library of Congress to "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant." It is the story of your Cajun boy with his fantastic family, living about the bayous you might say of life that individuals can barely imagine.
The boy's family rents land towards the oil company, which comes in, drills, and leaves everything exactly like it was, clean and unspoiled other than the family has a little more money. (Yes, it turned out funded from the Standard Oil Company.)
The boy spends almost all of his time on his narrow boat (pirogue), floating over the bayous, prime snake and alligator habitat, together with his pet raccoon. He never wears a life preserver or shoes... doesn't actually have a cell phone to get in touch with case he gets in danger. There is not much story, only a celebration (in these stunning black and white photography that you could well wonder what are the big deal is around color) of your way of life that is certainly no longer along with us.
All in the actors were amateurs, and then for most, this became their only film. As of April 2007, J.C. Boudreaux, who literally boy, was moving into a FEMA trailer together with his wife of fifty-five years, after Hurricane Rita destroyed their residence. (source). A grayscale silent film that ends with a woman being burned alive? Oh, yes, just what every family needs at Thanksgiving. But, I have three good reasons for including The Passion of Joan of Arc on this pair of free movies for Thanksgiving.
First, I am thankful that The Passion of Joan of Arc was available. Second, I am thankful that The Passion of Joan of Arc was preserved. The director Carl Theodor Dreyer (more) died convinced that the last copy was destroyed. In a amount of weirdness that sounds much more a movie compared to the truth, a nearly complete print is discovered in 1981 in a janitor's closet of a Norwegian mental institution.
