Using your phone's GPS system, Spott allows users to either browse by movie/show or their location to find out interesting facts about that movie, show, or actors.
For example, Stapleton International Airport (now Denver IA) was the airport in the movie "Die Hard 2" with Bruce Willis. Up until recently, I had no idea the hotel in the movie "Dumb and Dumber" were the Stanley Hotel, which was also the inspiration and setting for Stephen King's popular book and movie, "The Shining".
Along with giving users to be able to see their town in a whole new way, you can also buy movies from the app, plus it is possible to send in your personal photo from the famous locale where you live.
The interface for Spott is not hard to manuever around - you can choose movies or shows by title, location, or movies which might be near you. Obviously the nearby feature is the best, in particular when you're traveling or recently moved. High point though is always that I learned parts of Casablanca were filmed inside nearby capital of scotland- Flagstaff, it's nice to see that a classic monochrome film is listed.
There is also downsides, for example actor listings, which can be meh at best, however, this is how the Spotters thing also comes in. Too bad this app didn't turn out before I moved.
As a motion picture and TV fan who goes wrong with love trivia, this is certainly a pretty good app to have in case you've got an Android phone. Definitely the highlight with this app would be to view a wide selection of locations of various film scenes, though I think a lot of people will be interested in where their hometown or current town factors in various movies and shows.
A disappointment offers some areas lack, which can be annoying for users who know a specific movie or show was filmed of their neck with the woods. But to counter this, users can supply images and upload them to Spott. This is actually a fantastic social interaction that gets fans involved while they proudly exhibit their cities and states.
I think a big let down will be the fact that this app isn't free; with just a small amount of information, this should be a free app that gets upgraded to cover more expenses (like a chance to buy and download movies).
